How Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund SIPs work

Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund is managed by Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company, a subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank. SIPs with Kotak MF follow the standard SEBI-regulated auto-debit process: a NACH mandate is registered on your bank account, and on each SIP date the amount is debited and units are allotted at that day’s NAV. The SEBI standard formula — FV = P × ((1+r)^n − 1)/r × (1+r) — is the same for every SEBI-regulated AMC. This calculator applies that formula; the “Kotak” framing is for keyword relevance only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this calculator specific to Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund?
The underlying math is the SEBI standard SIP formula — entirely bank-neutral. The FAQ context is framed around Kotak Mahindra because that's the keyword you searched. The widget operates the same for any AMC.
What is the minimum SIP for Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund?
Most Kotak Mahindra MF schemes start SIPs at ₹500/month. Some plans offer ₹100 entry-level SIPs. Always verify the current minimum in the scheme's SID or on the Kotak MF website.
Can I start a Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund SIP via Kotak Bank?
Yes. Kotak Bank account holders can invest in Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund (and other AMCs) through the Kotak Securities platform or the Kotak MF website. Third-party platforms (Zerodha Coin, Groww, Kuvera) also offer Kotak MF schemes.
Are Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund SIPs eligible for Section 80C?
Only Kotak ELSS schemes qualify under §80C (up to ₹1.5L per FY, 3-year lock-in per SIP instalment). Other Kotak MF categories — equity, hybrid, debt — do not qualify. See our [§80C calculator](/tax/80c-deduction-calculator/).
Does BachatCalculator endorse or recommend Kotak Mutual Fund schemes?
**No.** BachatCalculator provides math tools under AMFI ARN-286359. We do not hold a SEBI RIA licence and cannot provide fund-specific investment recommendations. Use this calculator for projections only.
How does Kotak Direct compare to Kotak Regular plans?
Direct plans have lower expense ratios because there is no distributor commission. The difference compounds materially over 15–20 year horizons — often 1–2% per year, leading to a 20–35% larger final corpus. Model this with our [MF returns calculator](/investments/mutual-fund-returns-calculator/).
